you were always a stupid dog, who sought attention all the time. when you would beg for food, you gave everyone the most pathetic look, as if you were going to kill yourself if we didn’t give you a piece of food. you were needy and was happy when anybody would pet you. you were afraid of tall men, I know you were abused as a puppy, so maybe your owner was a tall man. you were loyal to a fault, not eating when your favorite person was out of town. you loved your companion, Toby. I think Toby had a love/hate relationship with you, he excelled in his patience with you. I’m sure Toby is disappointed his quiet time will now be disturbed with your endless neediness. I hope you were happy to see him and to pass along that we are all doing ok, how we are all pushing through. tell him how we all cried and continuously pet the both of you when you both passed. Look for Spice and Miss Kitty ok? I think they will be happy to see everyone, the family is almost back together. Fat man will join soon, don’t worry you won’t have to wait too long to see him.
Love you Becca, you stupid dog. you were in my life when I was 7 years old until I was 23. You’ve witnessed my growing up and been there for me, thanks baby girl <3 go on to your next adventure.
i was crying in my car in front of the mcdonalds near my house eating french fries and listening to my sad playlist in the car and a black guy tapped on my window and just gave me life changing advice “its going to be ok lil nigga you can do it”
part of me wants to wear leather jackets and red lipstick and be super sexy and break boys’ hearts but then I also want to wear sundresses and be sweet and cute and shy and giggly but a different part of me wants to be beautiful and smart and mysterious and another part of me just wants to sit in bed and watch netflix while I eat pizza
john quincy adams was the first US president to grant a personal interview to a female reporter, and the only reason he allowed it was because the reporter (anne royall) caught him skinny dipping in the potomac, sat on his clothes, and refused to let him get dressed until he answered her questions and if you dont think that’s one of the coolest stories of early US society then idk what to tell you
well, this wheel could be better but it’s definitely improved! here are some of my thoguhts: latino does not encompass all of central america and south america, there are countries within that some would argue are not latino (this can definitely be based on perspective). like Haiti, Brazil, Jamaica, Suriname, Guyana etc.
black should change to african, since i can’t say for sure but i doubt africans would label themselves as black when african is an option. africans are also across the world too, in latin america, europe etc so it’s not fair for this wheel to break it down regionally but then not only forget africa but not recognize globalization.
where is the middle east? is this west asian? (seriously i have no idea) it looks to me like an entire region is missing. i hesitate to use the word arab as a label when the middle east is composed of so many other ethnic backgrounds (persians for example).
also, as someone from the united states, here pretty much anyone with light skin is labeled white but in reality many people who we call white would never label themselves white. maybe use the word like mediterranean, anglo-saxon etc.
Men who want to flirt with women have to realize: Women live in a state of continual vigilance about sexual safety. It’s like having a mild case of hay fever that never goes away. It’s not debilitating. You’re not weak. You’re not afraid. You just suck it up and get on with your life. It’s nothing that’s going to stop you from making discoveries, or climbing mountains, or falling in love. Sometimes you can almost forget about it. It doesn’t mean it’s not there, subtly sucking your energy. You learn to avoid situations that make it worse and seek out conditions that make it better.
If a female stranger is wary around you, it is not because she suspects you are a rapist, or that all men are rapists. It’s because a general level of circumspection is what vigilance requires. Don’t take it personally.
If this frustrates you, try to remember that women are blamed for lapsed vigilance. If a woman does get raped, everyone rushes to see where she let her guard down. Was she drinking? Was she alone? Was she wearing a short skirt? Did she go to a strange man’s room for coffee at 4am?
A woman must be seen to be vigilant as well as be vigilant. If she is deemed insufficiently vigilant, she will be at least partly blamed for any sexual violence that befalls her. If she’s regarded as downright reckless, that “evidence” can be used to completely exonerate her rapist. If it comes down to a he said/she said dispute over whether sex was consensual, as so many rape cases do, the dispute becomes a referendum on whether the woman seems like the sort of reckless person who would have sex with a stranger.
If a woman does go back to a strange man’s hotel room at 4am, even if she only wants a coffee and conversation, she’s more or less given him the power to rape her. No jury is going to believe she went up there for anything but sex. So, don’t be surprised if a stranger reacts badly to that suggestion.
